The Island Pond Historical Society was founded in 1967. Its mission is to preserve traditions of the past with special emphasis on The Grand Trunk Railway - The first international railway in North America, and the great lumbering heritage of the town of Brighton, village of Island Pond and Essex County, Vermont.
